11 May The LleidaAirChallenge fair returns to the Lleida- Alguaire airport with a new space dedicated to drones

The Lleida AirChallenge Aeronautical Fair returns to the Lleida-Alguaire airport after two years without being able to celebrate it due to the pandemic. The event, which reaches its seventh edition, will take place on the weekend of June 11 th and 12 th , with almost a hundred exhibitors including pilot schools, cabin crew schools, helicopter companies, regional flying clubs, airline federations, aircraft manufacturing and repair companies, mechanic schools, and new aeronautical and space technologies. In addition, there are also a dozen planned conferences on drones and the new air mobility, air control or pilot training.

The Fair will have an area dedicated to drones. Some twenty companies linked to this sector will come to present their experiences with these new air mobility vehicles. That is why it has also been decided to organize, on Saturday and Sunday, drone exhibitions. A workshop for children has also been scheduled so that they learn how drones work and their remote management.

At the presentation press conference, the Secretary for Territory and Mobility, Isidre Gavín, pointed out that with the Lleida AirChallenge Fair “we have managed to create a dynamic that is highly oriented towards professionalisation, so we have not only recovered it, but it has also grown and it is much more specialized”. Gavín added that the event aims to “reinforce Lleida’s role as a benchmark for industrial and service airports, in line with the change in its strategy that was proposed a few years ago”.

The Government delegate in Lleida, Bernat Solé, has underlined that the fair is the only one in this area in Catalonia and in Spain. He has also remarked the weight that the new air mobility sector will have in this edition. In this sense, he recalled that an important part of the companies that will exhibit for the first time are linked to the world of drones and their applications. Solé has very positively valued the increase in his presence given that he “connects with the objective and the efforts of the Government so that Lleida-Alguaire becomes a benchmark industrial, technological and aerospace airport in this field”.

Unlike previous years, in this edition the flight to Palma de Mallorca will be maintained on Friday and also on Sunday, since the Fair has been located in a space on the platform that does not interfere with commercial aviation.
