The Lleida-Alguaire airport opens the first operations centre for autonomous aerial vehicles with a demonstration flight by the company EHang

EHang, world leader in Autonomous Aerial Vehicles (AAV), inaugurated on October 31, the first AAV Operations Center in Europe, located within the Lleida – Alguaire international airport (LEDA), in the presence of representatives of the main Authorities, Institutions and Industry.

This is a milestone in the deployment of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) in Europe, by integrating the operation of Electric Vehicles with autonomous Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) capability, with the infrastructure, air traffic management systems, procedures and information technologies of an international airport. The creation of this operations center, a pioneer in the world, arises from the collaboration agreement signed between EHang and Aeroports de Catalunya, within the scope of the UAM, and allows the national aeronautical and airport sectors to be positioned at the forefront of Advanced Air Mobility.

The EH216-S is the world’s most advanced, mature, and proven autonomous eVTOL. He has accumulated 40,000 flight hours in more than fourteen countries in Asia, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Only in Spain, the aircraft has carried out demonstration flights in Ávila, Lugo and Jaén, with the help of the National Police, INTA, AESA, Enaire and Globalvía.

The EH216-S aircraft deployed at the European Operations Center will allow the accumulation of extensive operational experience and the generation of knowledge, data and information, of inestimable value, for the development of technological solutions, regulations and procedures, for the safe and efficient integration of eVTOLs. in European airspace.

During the inauguration of the Operations Center, EHang carried out a demonstration flight of its EH216-S, the first flight of a certified eVTOL at an international airport in Europe.
